This issue of Bass Player Magazine hit the stands back in September of 1997, and was actually the first publication to make note of "Portrait of Jaco." Within this article the writer Bill Milkowski discloses some of the "Portrait's" content and describes its status as "eagerly awaited" and "upcoming." And although this was not a promotional maneuver, Bill's early praise of the project did appear to outline the material in almost a review like fashion. This issue was actually a direct result of Bass Player magazine wanting to do something to make note of the tenth anniversary of Jaco's passing, and Milkowski's article highlighting posthumous releases just hit the spot.

Milkowski's insider's knowledge of my project frequently comes in handy when shopping stories around and he doesn't hesitate to mention the project whenever it's appropriate however, this should not be confused as me prematurely promoting its release.
